Frequently Asked Questions

General Tax Questions

Do I have to live in Virginia to work with you? No! While we are proudly based in the Hampton Roads area, we are an IRS Authorized e-file Provider equipped to serve clients virtually in all 50 states. Our secure digital portal makes it easy to file from anywhere.

What documents do I need to start my taxes? At a minimum, you will need a government-issued ID, Social Security cards for everyone on the return, and your income documents (W-2s, 1099s). Once you book a session, we provide a detailed checklist to ensure nothing is missed.

Can I file if I haven't filed in several years? Absolutely. We specialize in helping clients "find their footing," which often means catching up on prior-year returns(a maximum of 3 prior years including the current year). There is no judgment here—only solutions to help you get back in good standing.

Fees & Payments

How much do your services cost? Our fees are competitive and based on the complexity of your return. We provide a transparent estimate during your initial discovery session so there are never any surprises.

Do I have to pay upfront? We offer Pay-by-Refund options! This means our professional fees can be deducted directly from your refund, allowing you to get expert help without any out-of-pocket costs today.

Do you offer Refund Advances? Yes. For qualifying clients, we offer refund advances to help you access your money sooner when you need it most.

The "Tax + Talent" Difference

What exactly is "Community Resource Navigation"? This is what makes us unique. Because of our owner’s Master of Social Work (MSW) background, we look at your life, not just your W-2. If you are struggling with housing, utilities, or navigating the school system, we provide direct referrals to organizations that can help.

Is my information confidential? 100%. Whether we are discussing your income or your personal life challenges, your data is protected by bank-level encryption, and our conversations are held to the high ethical standards of both the tax and social work professions.

How is a "Social Work approach" different from a regular tax office? Standard offices focus on the "what" (the numbers). We focus on the "why" and the "how." We advocate for you to ensure you get every credit you deserve, and we use the tax process as a way to empower you toward long-term stability.
